PDA Maintenance And Security

A greatly overlooked element of owning a PDA is that you actually need to take care of them if you want them to last. For most people this will mean two things – getting some software protection for your PDA and getting it a physical case to stop it getting knocked around.

Beginners Guide To Buying A PDA

Are you considering the purchase of your very first PDA? If so, what should you look for? How much should you spend? What features should you get?

Writing the PDA Way

When we think of writing it triggers many thoughts and visions depending on our framing. It could trigger a lone
man with a full astray, unshaven, staring at an old plunking typewriter with white blank crisp paper waiting in
anticipation for his words.

If a mother or younger, it could conjure up an image of a 30-something woman typing away on a keyboard with an apronon, in between making formulas or getting ready for work, still dark outside. Pounding on the keys because the flow is there, just as the light from the window begins to change, trying to get as much onto the page before the kids need her attention.

PDA Batteries

PDA batteries vary by brand, depending on the type of PDA you have. Some of the most popular brands are Compaq PDA and the Blackberry, T-Mobile sidekick. Brands like Compaq and HP have many different PDAs so when purchasing a PDA battery is important to choose the correct model number.

PDA’s use Lithium ion batteries. These types of batteries are more in demand since the use of PDA’s and cell phones have increased. Lithium Ion batteries charge rapidly, are lightweight, and make electronics more powerful.

Battery life of a PDA battery varies greatly depending on how the PDA is used. If it is used for simply calendar, note taking, and contact list, the battery will last for several hours on a single charge. If the PDA is used to play games and watch movies, the battery will die much sooner, around 1 to 2 hours of use.

Treo 700 PDA — The 240×240 Dilema

Today, many Pocket PC phones have 240×240 resolution because Windows Mobile 5.0 doesn’t support 320×320 resolution and the next square screen resolution supported is 480×480.

However, when it comes to prices of touch screens, the screens with 480×480 are too expensive. So Pocket PC phone manufacturers, who wanted to use square resolution in order to accommodate a QWERTY keyboard, were forced into 240×240.

Examples of devices sporting the square screens are the HP iPaq HW6500 series, HW6900 series, Palm Treo 700w, and Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX T830 Pocket PC phones. Look for some others later in 2006.
