Smartphones are poised to become the information center and entertainment device of choice. Increasing adoption and usage of smartphones bodes well not only for smartphone makers but also for the wireless industry as a whole.
Investments in shares of wireless technology companies and wireless service providers have been particularly profitable in the post-dot com era. The wireless industry is in a sweet spot of the technology space. Bountiful business opportunities exist as wireless usage continues to increase in both developed and emerging markets. And driving this usage higher are new products such as smartphones whose capabilities are being augmented by the deployment of third generation (3G) wireless networks.
Feature-Rich Smartphones.
Smartphones are more than mobile phones. A smartphone is a mobile phone with built-in functions of a personal digital assistant. Smartphones pack a diverse range of features and functionalities into the handset that makes them a mobile information center and entertainment device for the user.
Smartphones commonly include features …

When I decided that I needed to replace my terribly out of date mobile phone - an old Nextel i1000plus - my thoughts eventually wandered toward a pda phone. For those that know me this probably seemed like a no brainer. I have a long history of pda dependence going back years to a Palm 3X. However, I already had a pda that I was quite happy with. For the last year and a half I had used my HP iPAQ 2215 for everything from a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), an e-book reader, an MP3 player, a photo wallet, an alarm clock, a mobile web browser(utilizing a compact flash wifi card), among many other things. Trying to cram a phone in to all of this seemed overwhelming, but curiosity - and my need for a new gadget - got the better of me. My search was twofold - look for a new mobile phone and …

Is it a phone or a PDA or a handheld computer? No, it is a smartphone. Smartphones are all three, a phone, a pda and a handheld computer. You can make phone calls of course but the new windows mobile 5.0 you can email, instant message, surf the internet, listen to your favorites tunes, play games and even keep your appointment schedule using pocket outlook’s calendar.
Windows mobile is Microsoft’s answer to RIM’s BlackBerry technology that has become extremely popular in the last two years, especially among high-end business clients. That is why they have built instant messenger and hotmail email access into the operating system. To expand their reach to other carriers, Microsoft has designed Windows Mobile. So, smartphones will use 30% less power making them attractive to carriers like Cingular, Verizon etc, who allow customers a wide range of customization features.
According to industry analysts, windows mobile is now the number one stand alone …
The race for becoming the “best tablet PC” is on. There are no clear verdicts, as technology is a dynamic thing that keeps on changing. Moreover, the issue is quite subjective. There are a number of different models of Tablet PCs, and a wide range of additional software and hardware pieces that enhance or modulate the functioning of a tablet PC. So what might be “best” for a student might not be good enough for a doctor.
A number of hybrid models are also coming up. These models can work as a PDA, mobile phone and tablet PC. Some models are convertible. There are many such categories. It is a complex task to compare the functioning of such equipment to declare which is the best model.
However, a user can choose the best tablet PC to suit his needs by looking out for certain features in a tablet PC. These features include high-speed processors, sufficient …
PDA’s, or personal digital assistants are mini personal computers that initially were supposed to be personal organizers, but in time a lot of other useful functions were added to them, and they became address books, clocks, memo pads, Internet browsers, photo cameras, and many other things.
The latest thing that was included in the PDA is a Global Positioning System Device, (a GPS device), a gadget that can determine your position anywhere on the planet, using a satellite connection, and that has built-in maps of all the roads and major facilities. So the new PDA GPS device are more than anyone would need anywhere, both at the office and on the road.
The PDA GPS devices have prices varying around a few hundred dollars, depending on their functions and characteristics, and most of them include detailed maps of various regions, (they can be used as car GPS devices also - they can generate driving instructions and can …

3. You can choose a resolution from the list. Different devices have different screen resolutions. For example, Treo 600 has a 160×160 screen, so you need to choose one of the 160x… resolutions from the list. Most palm devices have 320×320 or 480×320 screen resolutions. You may choose any resolution that is smaller than the screen.
Larger resolutions require more space in your memory card. For example, 416×240 (100kpixel) usually requires twice the space as 272×160 (44kpixel) requires under the same movie quality.
Alternatively, you can choose a Crop …
Buying a PDA is not an easy decision. There are so many things to consider and so much research to do to get your dollars worth. You have to ask the questions. How much do I want to spend? What do I want my PDA to do?
Before deciding on a PDA you should know exactly what feature it has and if it meets your particular needs. PDA stands for personal digital assistant and it should perform exactly that task. It should help in making your life more organized and easier.
A new PDA does not need to be upgraded annually, so it is a worthwhile investment. It can perform several functions, some of which include address book, notes taker, GPS navigator, calculator and much more.
Given that you are ready to go forward with the purchase, your choice of a PDA model will depend on your requirements–what you want it to do. A few things to …
You probably see people almost everyday carrying a little computer device that enables them to retrieve phone numbers, addresses, listen to MP3 files, show off pictures, alerts them to appointments and you wonder why there is a smile on their face? Wonder no more. Palm pilots are helping the average Joe keep on track with very little effort.
Palm pilots have come along way since the very first one left the production line. At first all they could do is store some contact information like numbers and addresses. In todays quest for the ultimate electronic companion the birth of a new palm pilot era was born.
Also known as a PDA (personal digital assistant), the palm has evolved into a gigantic information storing device that is light enough and small enough to fit in your pocket. How is this possible? Technology moves at the speed of light. Everything is getting faster, smaller, and more powerful. Palm pilots …
Today, many Pocket PC phones have 240×240 resolution because Windows Mobile 5.0 doesn’t support 320×320 resolution and the next square screen resolution supported is 480×480.
However, when it comes to prices of touch screens, the screens with 480×480 are too expensive. So Pocket PC phone manufacturers, who wanted to use square resolution in order to accommodate a QWERTY keyboard, were forced into 240×240.
Examples of devices sporting the square screens are the HP iPaq HW6500 series, HW6900 series, Palm Treo 700w, and Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX T830 Pocket PC phones. Look for some others later in 2006.
When regular Pocket PC applications and games are run, the square screens cut off the information below the 240 pixel mark. Sometimes, they do scroll but often that’s not the case which means that about 25 percent of the display is missing.
The only real solution to this problem is to have software that is designed specifically to accommodate the 240×240 resolution.

A PDA (personal data assistant) can be an important investment. Price is not the only issue facing a PDA shopper. One must also be concerned with features, as a PDA may become integral to one’s daily life and functioning. As such, before making a final decision, one must first be sure to compare PDA’s carefully.
Any time one is purchasing an electronic item, the popular Latin expression “caveat emptor” should come to mind. The phrase, translated as “buyer beware,” reflects the reality of the marketplace. One cannot trust that any given purchase will truly meet his or her needs or that any product in a category will be satisfactory. The electronics market is littered with sub-par products that are strongly hyped and sold on the strength of misleading or inaccurate marketing. PDA’s are not an exception to this rule. There are many options available, and they are not all of sufficient quality. That is why …
In recent years, PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) have become increasingly available and more popular. PDAs now feature massive amounts of storage space, whether on-board, or via flash cards which keep growing in size, wireless networking, web browsing facilities, telephone-PDA hybrids, and ever more advanced software. Sipping an Espresso and reading the newspaper I waved at my friend Greg, a male real estate agent, chatting away on his cell phone. I thought about what a multi-tasking society we’ve become, how I hardly ever sit just doing one thing anymore and neither do most of my friends. We can talk, schedule business and social activities, and eat and drink all at the same time. We’re more efficient for it and now have more leisure time than we used to.

Currently the technology of batteries is getting better all the time and this is good news for cell phone users, laptop owners and the latest iPod craze. With all the new batteries available and life usage before recharge they still leave a lot to be desired. For instance hikers on a weekend trip may take their iPods with them camping but by the end of the first day the batteries are shot and there are not outlets to just plug into.
PDA (personal digital assistant) devices are more useful than ever. What began as a convenient way to store contacts and calendars has evolved into a new conduit for information in the digital age. PDAs are now being used for many purposes beyond simple calendaring and phone number storage.

The cell phone manufactures have been on a roll lately. Companies like Palm are releasing huge sales numbers because of products like their Treo, SmartPhones with an extended range of features over traditional handsets.
First, there was the standard land line phone system; then came the cell phone – a convenient little portable item that everyone adopted a “must have” attitude toward.
